How long does it resist to climatic conditions? Does it require maintenance?
In case that the details in our technical catalogues are respected and if it is used together with the accessories manufactured by our company, this product does not require any maintenance for long years.

Does it crack and corrupt in hot and cold weathers?
ONDULINE HR® sheets may be applied both in the most cold and most hot and humid climates easily. No problems have been encountered in applications made in areas where the temperature is +50°C under shadow and in regions where the cold is almost -50°C.
ONDULINE HR® sheets shall be waited for 24 hours in places where it is going to be applied at a temperature of above +5°C and shall be applied afterwards at a level of more than +5 °C. Our factories in Brazil, Malaysia and Russia are indicators that ONDULINE HR® is applied widely both in hot and cold climates.

Does its color change?
A few months after application, the bitumen on the sheet which has been applied as a thin film layer peels with natural effects and then the sheet takes its real color. However, just as it is the case in most paints, the paint of ONDULINE HR® also gets affected by UV rays.
During application, it should be noted that that the written side of the ONDULINE HR® Sheets should face upwards. Otherwise, due to the tissue difference on the surface of the sheets, the reverse sided sheets will cause difference in color.

Does it have a certain smell?
Since it is made of bitumen, the smell of this substance can be felt only if one smells it from very near.
However, because of the fact that this is never the case, we can say that it does not have a disturbing smell.

Can we walk on it?
Due to the fact that it has a spaced structure, roofers can easily walk on it because they step on the sheet joints and places where the nails are located. However, people other than roofers should place wooden boards and walk on them.

Does it penetrate heat or cold? In other words, does it provide heat insulation?
ONDULINE HR® is not a heat insulation material.
Heat insulation is related with the materials heat conductivity coefficient and thickness. Due to the fact that ONDULINE HR®’s heat conductivity coefficient is low it cannot provide heat insulation because its thickness is low.
In case that heat insulation is required, underside the ONDULINE HR®, a heat insulation material with required thickness and at least 18 kg/m3 density should be placed and applied afterwards.
In case that the heat insulation is placed between the beams, the heat insulation material can be at any density.

How long is its guarantee?
Onduline Avrasya gives written waterproofness guarantee for ONDULINE HR® sheets for a period of 10 years in case that the application is approved by our technical staff members and accessories of ONDULINE HR® are used. Different accessory usage makes the guarantee invalid.
Our company gives guarantee only for our product. The responsibility with regards to application belongs to the applicator.

Is it brittle?
ONDULINE HR® is a flexible material. It can be bent 900 along its conduits. And it can be bent at a radius of 5.00 m. perpendicularly to its conduits. It shall be slightly heated in cold weathers prior to bending.

Does it corrupt?
It definitely does not corrupt and is not affected of any chemical material by which bitumen is not affected as well.

Is water insulation required underneath it?
ONDULINE HR® is a roofing material and there is no need to place any water insulation material underneath it.

Our building leaks water at its north façade; can we achieve a permanent solution by using ONDULINE HR®?
By using ONDULINE HR® on the façades in accordance with our technical details, you can achieve both an affordable and definite solution.

What is its weight?

How can we fix ONDULINE® on wooden and steel construction roofs?
ONDULINE HR® sheets can be fixed to wooden roofs by using at least 20 mono block nails (there should be at least 20 mono block nails visible on the roof after the sheet is applied) and can be fixed to steel construction roofs by using at least 11 mono block nails (there should be at least 11 mono block nails visible on the roof after the sheet is applied).

Do the nail holes penetrate water?
Due to the fact that it is fixed by specially developed Plastic Head Mono Block Nails by hammering them atop the conduits, excellent water insulation is achieved. The Mono Block Nail heads are not affected by the climatic conditions and sun rays. Original mono block nails should always be preferred during application.
